tbd/con update #3: we want your ideas
The crew is in.
First, news: we've assembled the review crew, an amazing group of journalists and technologists.
Thanks to everyone who raised their hand. We've reached out to the people we're bringing on; if you applied and haven't heard from us, let us know.
Now we're full speed ahead on pitches before our call for proposals closes June 30. If you have a session idea – a conversation, workshop, prototype, panel, provocation – send it our way:
After that, reviews take place in July, and in August, we’ll finalize the program. If you know someone who has something interesting to say, please encourage them to submit.
We're already seeing some exciting pitches come in on AI product failures, censorship, epistemic intermediation, and facilitated conversations. The good ones tend to pose questions rather than preach answers.
Here’s a reminder of the five tracks we’re looking for pitches on:
- thought: systems architecture, ethics, epistemology, and philosophy centered on the emergent realities of synthetic and synthetic-human cognition.
- information: utility, influence, and the infrastructure of what we know and believe.
- security: adversarial AI, breaking models, the realities of responsible disclosure, and the arms race between offense and defense.
- practice: the mechanics of building: architectures, data curation, and engineering at scale.
- garage: wild prototypes, failed experiments, pet projects, and the weird stuff that happens on the margins.
If something you've been thinking about fits one of these, or almost fits, or definitely doesn't fit but feels like it should exist anyway, please submit!
Since this is our first tbd/con, our focus is on the conversations we haven't heard yet, and the only way that happens is if a diverse group of people make tbd/con theirs.
We're not sponsored, we're not selling anything. The program belongs to whoever shows up.
Pitch deadline: June 30. Reviews run in July. Program announced in August. And on September 23-24, we all show up on gather.town.
Next update at the end of the month as the pitch window starts to close.
