I am looking for an audience researcher to join this small team for a two-year project aimed at developing proof-of-concept implementations for exile and underground media ventures. 

The position is remote and part-time. 

Responsibilities:

- Conduct research on media audience needs in challenging environments;
- Design and implement creative surveys to gather actionable audience insights on functional and emotional needs, pain points, and motivations;
- Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for audience engagement in restricted media landscapes;
- Develop lean audience research templates for newsrooms to emulate based on research findings;
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive training syllabus for journalists operating in challenging conditions;
- Collaborate with newsrooms to create case studies;

Required Skills:

- Proven experience in design research, surveys, and data analysis in complex media environments;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box;
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences;
- Familiarity with media industry trends and audience engagement strategies;
- Knowledge of digital security best practices;
- Native Chinese language skills strongly preferred;
